I had been using Lightroom for mobile for a while before I discovered this great colour editing feature. For some reason it had never occurred to me to click on this button before but now I use this technique on pretty much every photo. The Mix tool enables you to alter just one specific colour within your image, for example you could turn something red to blue or use it to add drama and brighten up all the greens in your photo without changing or affecting any of the other colours. It is a very effective and powerful tool and I haven’t found any other colour adjustment settings that allow this depth of control on any other free smartphone apps.
When I edit my photos I generally like all the colors really bright and saturated but sometimes I will reduce the yellows and oranges to help with the overall cool tone that I prefer for my photos. This will preserve all the blues, cyans and purples allowing my image to still be vibrant and colourful but just not featuring any of the warmer tones.
How to use the Colour Mix tool
When you go to the Color tab and select Mix, you can select the color you want to adjust and then use three different sliders to change the Hue (range of colour) Saturation (how bright or deep the colour is) and luminance (how dark or light the colour is). The alterations will only affect the tones of the specific colour group you select which allows you much greater control when editing your image
It’s a great tool to experiment with and see what different effects and moods you can bring to your image. For this one I originally just adjusted the settings on the deep blue and then I started playing around with the rest of the color such as intensifying the pinks and the yellows to bring out the colours of the sunset. I wouldn't recommend making such dramatic changes as I did here as the whole photo has become slightly purplish making it look too unnatural but sometimes it's cool to just have fun with it.
