Meet Thia

How did your journey to photography start? Have you always been a product photographer and videographer?

Hi everyone! My name is Thia Adhari. I’m from Indonesia and currently based in Jakarta.

I’ve loved photography since I was in elementary school. I used to take photos with my parents’ old camera and instantly fell in love with it. I started taking it more seriously in junior high school, where I joined the photography and journalism team for the school board.

Later on, life got busy and I had to step away for a while. During COVID, I rediscovered my passion and began exploring beauty videography using just my phone. And I’ve been learning and growing ever since.

What are some things people might not know about you?

  • I love baking and trying out new recipes, especially desserts.
  • I’m also a big cat lover and currently take care of 15 rescued cats at home.
  • I love traveling and exploring new places, especially discovering local food and hidden gems.

What equipment do you currently use to produce your content?

I mostly use Sony cameras now. my Sony A7S III and A6700. But my first camera for beauty videos was the Canon M50.

For lighting, I mainly use lights from Godox and Litemons. As from tripod I use the one from takara spirits. My favourite lighting is the Litemons LA150Bi.

What are your favourite props to use in your work?

I don’t usually use traditional props, but I really enjoy working with food or dessert-themed concepts—so I often use real food as props to make the visuals feel more organic and tactile.

How do you keep learning and evolving your skills?

I keep learning by following other creators, as well as professional photographers and videographers on social medias. Their work constantly inspires me to try new techniques and continue evolving my style. I’m especially inspired by creatives in the beauty and visual storytelling space who experiment with lighting, texture, and unique concepts.

What is your best advice to share with aspiring creators?

My advice would be to not be afraid to explore your own style, and to really experiment with texture. It doesn’t always have to come from the actual product. Try using different elements to create texture in your own way. Whether it’s from beauty products, food, or other materials, these can add depth and make your visuals feel more dynamic and engaging. Don’t be afraid to play around and see what works, because that’s often where the most interesting results come from!

Your behind the scenes are so fun! Any advice for creatives wanting to produce this type of content?

For behind the scenes content, I like to keep my setup simple and focus on capturing the process naturally. You don’t need perfect equipment—just use what you have and document your workflow step by step. I also like to include small, engaging moments that hook viewers, such as pouring textures, playing with water, or incorporating food elements

Which other creators do you admire and find inspiring?

My favorite creators are @cindy_clauds and @amandacampeanu. I have learned a lot from them!

Lastly, what’s next for you?

I’m looking forward to pushing my creativity further, exploring more experimental concepts, especially in texture photography. And hopefully more collaboration with brands and and creatives who share a similar vision!

Huge appreciation to you, Thia, for bringing us closer to your creativity, literally! We love your work, and it’s truly inspiring.
