Meet Jackie Gill

Welcome, Jackie! We would love to know how you got started in UGC? Have you always been a DIYer and what inspired you to start sharing your crafty tips?

Hey everyone! I’m Jackie Gill. I am originally from Massachusetts, but have lived in Florida most of my life. I am in Central Florida, right outside Disney World.

I have always been a creative, crafter, and DIYer. I started sharing my crafts and DIYs during the pandemic to keep myself creative and inspire others at home. One day a brand slid into my DMs asking for UGC. I didn’t even know what that was!

What are some things people might not know about you?

  • I am an only child
  • I have run two marathons
  • I have been to Alaska

What equipment do you currently use for your UGC videos?

I use my iPhone 17 Pro Max, a tripod, and natural lighting. For editing, I use CapCut, InShot, and Meta Edits, depending on the collaboration.

Tell us more about your lighting setup.

My favorite light source is Mother Nature! I’m lucky my house has a ton of windows, so there’s always plenty of natural light to work with. My best tip for UGC creators is to watch how the light moves through your space at different times of day, then shoot where it looks its best.

What are your three favorite props to use?

A festive garland for a flat lay, the finished craft off to the side and a tea towel or cutting board.

What is your best advice to share with aspiring UGC creators?

The best advice I have is to keep creating. Sometimes it feels like shouting into the void, but keep showing up for yourself first. You are unique and brands want that, so keep creating and the rest will follow.

Your DIY videos are fantastic! Any technical tips for creatives wanting to produce this type of content?

Thank you! I suggest playing with different angles and formatting. Does the style of video make sense for the content? Overhead is always great for step-by-step, but quick clips are better for the finished, styled product.

How do you keep learning and evolving your skills?

I think the best way to evolve is to keep doing. I study what works best with my own content. For example, if a style of post performs really well, I consistently create that type of content. I like to be aware of trends, but I try to stay in my own lane and do what’s best for me and my page.

Which other creators do you admire and find inspiring?

Oh goodness, so many! One of my dearest friends, Jenni Whitney (@lets_create_and_celebrate) is a gem both IRL and online. Our Insta friendship translated to real life and I’m always inspired by her!

Some of my biggest inspirations are Martha Stewart @marthastewart, Wishbone Kitchen @wishbonekitchen, and Emily Welch @emilywelchstyle.
