Q&A with Dani Barrois
How would you describe your creative style?
When I am creating imagery I try not to focus on the technical side of taking the photo or making sure everything is perfectly aligned - what I try to capture is FEEL. When someone looks at one of my images I hope that it brings out an emotion, that my tribe feel like they are right there enjoying the product, or food or place with me. I think my creative style could best be described as bright, crisp & fun with a whole lot of pastels thrown in.
What kind of photography equipment do you use?
Anything I have available at the time! I mostly shoot with my Pentax K3 & a 50mm lens, but I also love to whip out my iPhone 6s depending on what the situation is. I can’t live without my tripod with a boom as I use this to shoot all of my flatlays & stop motion content. I am also a natural light addict (lucky I live in Australia so we have this in abundance!) & I use foam white boards to reflect and manipulate the light. I usually use photoshop to edit my images but for Instagram I just make slight adjustments in Lightroom & VSCO on my phone.
In honour of this week’s theme, tell us about how you apply the idea of Green Living to your life:
I always try to be conscious of what products I am purchasing and using, and how much wastage I am creating. Whenever I can, I try to walk and leave the car at home. I love to use organic chemical free products around my home as I am mindful that what goes down the sink ends up in the ocean & I’m loving some beautiful netted bags I picked up at the local market to collect my fruit and veg in when I go shopping to lower my plastic consumption. It just takes a few little tweaks to your everyday life to make it more green & sustainable. And any given day of the week you will find a bunch of greenery in apartment that usually pops up in my content!
